Direct Connect test, and port forwarding or firewall failures
Server networking. Nothing here is on your side.
What you see
- The server runs but nobody outside can reach it
- Direct Connect fails from outside the network
What usually causes it
- Incorrect port forwarding
- A firewall blocking the server port
Worth checking first
- Cfx.re's documented test: open the F8 console and run connect IP:Port
- Check the port from outside with a port checker such as canyouseeme.org, which Cfx.re names
- Confirm the forward targets the machine's current internal address
Safe steps, one at a time
- Staff only. Confirm reachability from outside the network before changing anything on the server itself
- Add an inbound firewall rule for the server port rather than disabling the firewall
These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.
When to stop and ask staff
Server-side.
