Echo, or hearing yourself and others twice
Your microphone is hearing your own speakers, or the same conversation is reaching you twice.
What you see
- Voices double or echo
- Others complain of hearing themselves through you
What usually causes it
- Speakers instead of a headset, so the microphone picks the output back up
- Two audio paths active at once (in-game voice plus a Discord call with the same people)
- Stereo Mix or a loopback device selected as the microphone
Worth checking first
- Check whether speakers are in use
- Check the selected input device for Stereo Mix or a loopback name
- Ask whether the same people are also in a Discord call
Safe steps, one at a time
- Use a headset rather than speakers
- Select the real microphone, not Stereo Mix or a virtual loopback device
- Leave the parallel Discord call with the same people while in game
