Antivirus interference with FiveM
Security software sometimes mistakes FiveM for something harmful because of how it loads into the game.
What you see
- FiveM components disappear or fail to load after an update
- Downloads never complete
- An antivirus alert coincides with the problem
What usually causes it
- Heuristic false positive on FiveM's game-modification behaviour
- Real-time scanning holding files open during large asset downloads
Worth checking first
- Check the antivirus history/quarantine for FiveM paths
- Note the antivirus product and version
Safe steps, one at a time
- Restore the quarantined FiveM file from within the antivirus product
- Add an exclusion for the FiveM installation folder and the FiveM data folder
- Re-run the FiveM update after the exclusion is in place
These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.
When to stop and ask staff
Not an AGN issue, but record the antivirus product — a pattern across players is worth reporting upstream.

What staff will need
- Antivirus product
- Quarantined file name
- Whether an exclusion fixed it
Applies to
Independent of AGN version.
