Unsupported or out-of-date Windows build
This one is not certain. It is marked likely: the guidance is safe and reasonable, but the diagnosis is not proven for every case. If it does not match what you are seeing, stop and ask rather than pushing on.
FiveM and GTA V both require a reasonably current Windows. Very old builds stop being supported.
What you see
- FiveM refuses to start or warns at startup
- The PC is running an old Windows 10 feature update or an unsupported build
What usually causes it
- Windows has not had feature updates for a long time
- Windows Update is broken or paused
Worth checking first
- Record the Windows edition, version and build number (the Support Assistant reports these)
- Check whether Windows Update is paused or failing
Safe steps, one at a time
- Install outstanding Windows updates and restart
- If Windows Update itself fails, resolve that first — it is a Windows problem with its own troubleshooter
- Back up anything important before a feature update, as with any large change
