Stuck on "Starting FiveM, we're getting there"
The message
Starting FiveM, we're getting there
FiveM is being held up during startup, almost always by security software inspecting it.
What you see
- FiveM shows this message and never progresses
- No error box appears
What usually causes it
- Aggressive antivirus settings. Cfx.re documents this as the cause
Worth checking first
- Note the antivirus product and whether it has a 'game mode' or heuristic setting
- Check its history for FiveM entries
- Confirm how long they waited — a first run genuinely takes a while
Safe steps, one at a time
- Give it a few minutes on a first run before calling it stuck
- Add the FiveM installation folder and the FiveM application-data folder to your antivirus exclusions, then try again
- Do not disable your antivirus — exclusions do the job and leave you protected
- Cfx.re asks for a support ticket naming the antivirus product if exclusions do not help
These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.
When to stop and ask staff
Not an AGN issue. Route to Cfx.re with the antivirus product named.
Looks like
Player computer
What staff will need
- How long they waited
- Antivirus product
- Whether exclusions were tried
Applies to
Independent of AGN version.
