Stuck on a rotating splash screen

The message

Stuck on a rotating splash screen

FiveM's saved Rockstar sign-in has gone bad. Clearing those two items makes it sign in fresh.

What you see

  • The FiveM splash screen rotates indefinitely
  • No error appears and nothing loads

What usually causes it

  • Corrupted Rockstar (ROS) authentication cache. Cfx.re names the two files involved

Worth checking first

  • Confirm the splash is genuinely looping rather than downloading
  • Confirm the Rockstar Games Launcher signs in normally on its own

Safe steps, one at a time

  • Close FiveM completely
  • Delete %appdata%\citizenfx\ros_id.dat and the %localappdata%\digitalentitlements folder — these are Cfx.re's documented locations and they only hold a cached sign-in, which is rebuilt on the next launch
  • Start FiveM again and sign in when asked
  • The Support Assistant can open those folders for you so you can see exactly what is there before anything is removed

These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.

When to stop and ask staff

Not an AGN issue. If it persists after clearing the ROS cache, route to Cfx.re.

Looks like

Rockstar / Cfx.re service

What staff will need

  • Whether the Rockstar launcher works on its own
  • Whether clearing the ROS cache helped

Applies to

Independent of AGN version.
