Laptop is rendering on the integrated GPU instead of the discrete one

Laptops have two graphics chips. Yours is currently using the low-power one for FiveM.

What you see

  • Poor frame rate on a laptop that should perform well
  • Performance improves when plugged into mains power
  • Both an integrated and a discrete GPU are present

What usually causes it

  • Windows graphics preference is set to power saving for FiveM
  • The laptop is on battery and limiting performance
  • The external display is wired to the integrated GPU

Worth checking first

  • List every GPU present (the Support Assistant does)
  • Check whether the laptop is on battery or mains
  • Check the Windows Graphics settings entry for FiveM

Safe steps, one at a time

  • Plug the laptop into mains power and set the Windows power mode to Best performance
  • In Windows Settings → System → Display → Graphics, set FiveM to High performance
  • In the NVIDIA or AMD control panel, set the preferred processor for FiveM to the discrete GPU
  • Do not disable the integrated GPU in Device Manager — on many laptops the screen is wired through it

These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.
