Low FPS or heavy stutter on AGN
This one is not certain. It is marked likely: the guidance is safe and reasonable, but the diagnosis is not proven for every case. If it does not match what you are seeing, stop and ask rather than pushing on.
Frame rate problems are either your settings, something else running on your PC, or the server being busy. The checks separate those three.
What you see
- Frame rate far below what the hardware should manage
- Stutter concentrated in busy areas or when new areas load
- Smooth in single-player, rough on the server
What usually causes it
- Settings too high for the card, particularly MSAA, extended distance scaling and grass quality
- Overlays and recording software (Discord, GeForce Experience, Afterburner/RivaTuner, OBS, ReShade)
- Storage bottleneck — GTA V on a slow or nearly full hard disk
- Background CPU load, including browsers with many tabs
- Server-side load, which affects everyone at once rather than one player
Worth checking first
- Compare frame rate in single-player against on AGN
- Ask whether other players report the same at the same time
- List overlays and recording software
- Check free disk space and whether the game is on an SSD
Safe steps, one at a time
- Run the AGN Balanced Graphics Check in the Support Assistant — it recommends settings, it does not change them for you
- Turn MSAA off first; it is the single most expensive setting in GTA V at high resolutions
- Close overlay and recording software and retest
- Free disk space; move GTA V to an SSD if it is on a hard disk
- Retest with a browser and background apps closed
These are suggestions, not instructions. Do only what you are comfortable with, back up anything important first, and stop if a step does not match what is on your screen. Advice, risk and responsibility.
When to stop and ask staff
Escalate if several players report simultaneous stutter — that is a server-tick or resource problem, and no amount of client-side advice fixes it.

Unknown — needs staff review
What staff will need
- FPS in single-player vs AGN
- Full graphics settings
- Overlay list
- Whether others are affected
- Time of day it happens
Applies to
Compare against AGN server performance metrics for the same timestamp before blaming the client.
